I recently gave an online presentation to members of the TBLI Group, an impact investment community run by my very good friend Robert Rubenstein. I discussed how in my book “The Great Transition – the Personalization of Finance is Here” I was able to argue that the phrase “financial inclusion”, as used by venture capitalists and technology disruptors has been a lie. The poor are not asking for an exclusive social media – they are asking for normal access to the same digital world as everybody else. “Financial inclusion” usually results in the poor being gathered onto a platform and monetised. Also, that a successful financial inclusion project is deependent more on the DNA of finance rather than on technology.
